Have this thread on Pyssel iFokus, where I show what´s going on in my little garden on the balcony.
Yesterday I went through all my seeds and choose what to sow.
Guess wich was most important to get done 🤔

Not a clue if it isn't what I think. 😁

Hmm let me guess, the katt mynta/cat nip? Or perhaps that is cat grass, I can't tell.
No, but really, I would think the tomato seeds as they need to be able to grow enough to produce fruit while it is hot and sunny?

The catgrass was most important( atleast for little BOSS) I did sow some tomato seeds one thats called "Tiny Tim" it gives small delicious tomatoes and then one that´s called "Tigerella" it gives you striped tomatoes red/yellow.
The catnip(kattmynta) is a plant that I had for atleast 10 years.

Oh striped tomatoes, I wonder if they taste different than the usual ones do. Is it easy for you to grow tomatoes on your balcony? Do you have any tips for pest control? I always seem to get nasty pests on my tomato plants.
One of cats always tries to eat my plants, so I tried growing cat grass for her in the past to try to get her to eat that instead but she wouldn't touch it. So I never tried to grow the catnip (even though they both love dried catnip), but maybe I will try soon.

The hardest part for me i s before the get so big that I can put them out on the balcony.
For pest control I use green soft soap (grön såpa) and water. You can also put some matches in the pot wit the black end in the soil.
I have a lot of fun stuff on my small balcony. Like herbs (parsley, chive, oregano) Strawberries(smultron) Lime, kaffirlimette, rhubarb,

gooseberry (2 different Yellow and green krusbär) 2 diffrent sorts white and red currants (röda och vita vinbär)
And not to forget a big pot of catnip and one big box of cat grass hanging on the railing.
I will show some pictures next week after the springcleaning of the little garden.

That sounds like a productive balcony garden! Would love to see a picture of how you set it up.

#6: How often do you spray with the green soap water? And that matches don't hurt the plant growth? I've never head of that before, it sounds interesting.
Host of Apartment Gardening | Ashtanga Yoga | Literature | Migraine
Spraying with the soapwater a couple of times a week, if needed and doing it early in the morning, before the sun comes around to my balcony.
Hostess at Bead Craft
You are right Niklas. I usually put two matches with the sulphurend down on opposite side of the pot maybe more if the pot is big.

#11 No I can´t remeber, my memory is very bad. I will make a note next time I use that trick.
Hostess at Bead Craft
They are alive :) My Tiny Tim Tomatoes are growing

Did stick a post-it near the window, to remind me to water them 😄
Hostess at Bead Craft
It´s just when I have plants in the kitchenwindow I need Help to remember, since I have some curtains in the lower part of the window. To prevent people to see straight in my kichten

You could also put a weekly alarm/reminder on your phone to remind you as an extra reminder.

It´s good this way, because I see that note every morning when I make my coffe.

Today I did move the chive from its small container to its big pot. But since it´s to cold to put it out on the balcony I needed a tray beneath the pot. And that is not easy to find, due to the shape of the pot.
So I was looking through and thinking about what I could use. So here´s todays DIY project. Had a plastic tray that I got some meat in and look it was the perfect size for the pot. So I did cut it down and here´s the finished project.

It fits well! Hope the chives will love it

Flis always reminded me of picking the tomatoes.
just because she wanted them. Yes this one was yellow. Can´t remember it´s name

Today it looks like this in my kitchen window. I did relocate two of the Tiny Tim to their own small pot. So the four to the left is Tiny Tim. Two of them are relocating to my friends garden when they are bigger and it´s warmer out.

Then there is 3 Tigerella tomatoes. They are beautiful to look at whit their stripes and they taste good too.
Hostess at Bead Craft
And in the milkcarton to the right there is parsley

I felt really sad for my rhubarb this morning when I looked out, the small leaves were covered with snow.
Hostess at Bead Craft
Hope it will be better soon.

I found some fibercloth, that I couldn´t remember that I had saved, and covered them up. They did survive and today they look like this, they have grown a bit
Hostess at Bead Craft
They seem to be doing fine!
Host of Apartment Gardening | Ashtanga Yoga | Literature | Migraine
To day I had to put my tomatoes in bigger pots.
The 3 on the left is Tiny Tim and the two on the right is Tigerella
Hostess at Bead Craft
Bought the pots yesterday. I got the plastic ones that are 45cm wide at the top. Had to take the black ones, because the brown was gone.
So now closely supervised by little rascal
I have put the gooseberrys( krusbären) in their new pots
Hostess at Bead Craft
Lol it looks like little missy is helping 🤣
Host of Apartment Gardening | Ashtanga Yoga | Literature | Migraine
She is. But in that moment there was a butterfly, she had to look at.
Otherwise it goes in a snailpace out on the balcony.
Lot´s happening in the kitchen window though.
Two tomatoplants(1 Tigerella and 1 Tiny Tim) moved to their new home yesterday.
So here is some pics of what´s left.
Oregano

It takes time, but I´m getting there in my little concretegarden. The bushes loves their new pots.
First out the gooseberrys:
on the left the yellow ones that bush is a bit slower to blossom and to the right the one with green berries
Hostess at Bead Craft
Then I have the white currant. Looks good, like it will have lots of berries
Hostess at Bead Craft
Then we have Miss Alice in her grass and beneath her in the blue pot catnip, and beside that the rhubarb
Hostess at Bead Craft
And in the other box strawberries
The box beneath is empty. But I got a cranberrybush earlier this week, maybe it will find it´s home there?
Hostess at Bead Craft
And the last bush the red currant
Hostess at Bead Craft
Wow everything is really taking off! Looking good
Host of Apartment Gardening | Ashtanga Yoga | Literature | Migraine
It really does. It´s very nice to get out there every morning and just look at it grow.
Hostess at Bead Craft
#50 NO. I hate them. Childhood trauma. We had black currants in the yard and I did love them, until I got one with a stink bug(bärfis) on it. Since then🤮🤢
Hostess at Bead Craft
I did plat a cranberry in this box
Hostess at Bead Craft
And my tomatoes and the other plants from the kitchen window is on a daytrip out on the balcony.
This is where I will put my kalamodin and other citrusplants when it´s warm enough for them to be out all the time
