Plant of the Week

Daffodils - Plant of the Week 4

2018-01-30 20:19 #0 by: Evelina

"Narcissus"

Daffodils are the perfect indoor plant to have around this time of year since winters tend to be cold and dark. The bright yellow flowers really brighten a home back up. They are low fragrance and also make nice gifts to others. Sun

How to care for indoor Daffodils:

Sun: Bright light, but not direct sunlight.

Water: When soil has dried out.

Fertilise: Every two weeks.

You can re-plant the bulbs the following years too! Just cut off the stalks after blooming is done for the season. Dust off the soil from the bulbs. Place into a paper bag, in a dark cool place, until next year. Then re-pot with new soil.

Daffodils are also called Easter lilies (“påskliljor”) in Swedish. Usually they flower around Easter time here. :-)

#1 Yes very true! Especially when you buy them from Lidl. Haha. Laughing

#2 Very pretty Emo. Nice colors!

#3 I just bought some! They are starting to sell them as well as Hyacinths. What's nice about indoor bulbs, is that you can force them to bloom early since the indoor temperature mimics the warmth of spring time. Glad

I love daffodils because you can buy some  that have very little fragrance. Since I have a problem with a reaction to many flowers that have fragrances then this is one that I can have indoors!

Happy creating!
