Image 1. Click to open in original size.

I got this little guy in the mail yesterday that I won on an online auction. Laughing

This plant is a Philodendron Squamiferum, native to the tropical area of South America. The plant is known for its interesting leaves and red furry stems. It's a climbing plant that grows up trees. It needs warmer temperatures, with loose fertile soil mix. They need a sustained amount of higher humidity and moderate indirect sunlight.

Yes! That is the other thing I 'borrowed' from the forest near my apartment, haha Quiet I took a small bit from a rock, broke it up into small pieces so that I could grow them in all of my pots to protect the soil from fungus flies. I put a small piece in each pot and eventually the moss will grow over the soil and top of the pot. The moss that you see in this pot was taken from another pot that had an abundance of moss growth. You just have to make sure there is humidity in your home and make sure the moss does not dry out.
