Plant seed's "Use before" dates not very important

Image 1. Click to open in original size.

My six year old son planted a lot of old seeds in our garden in the beginning of summer. I think all of them had expiration dates over five years ago. All of it has grown up. Flowers, salads, carrots, sugar peas… Don't throw away seeds even if they are supposedly too old. Plant them instead. :-)

Best regards, Niklas 🎈

But some seeds is the opposite. Onions for example can hardly be a year old (okey a little more but not alot at all.

And the expiration dates is for the promised groth percent. (it's on the pacage, normally 70%) so it might just be that 60% of the seeds grew instead of 70%.

When you think about it it's the same with beans, normally it's okay years after the expiration date (atleast if youre not going to sprout them)
