Boston Fern care?

Image 1. Click to open in original size.

I picked up this little plant for £3.50 at my local supermarket.  Am I right in thinking this type of plant survives best in bathrooms?

How much light and water should this plant receive? Any other care/maintenance advice would be greatly appreciated

All the best, Leia

Thinking of where they usually grow, I would guess you are right. Moist and dark places. In Swedish they are called “ormbunke” (snake bowl).

Ooh dark spaces, would you suggest that I move it away from the window then?

I think the important thing is that it isn’t exposed to direct sunlight, so if the window is facing away from the sun, I guess it will be okay.

Niklas is right, dont put it in direct sunlight and if you see the leaves turning brown, it is getting too much sun. Keep the air humid! If it is a bathroom with a shower, it will be happy. It will enjoy showers itself from time to time 😁. Water when you feel the soil starting to get dry, don’t over water.

I read that they are supposed to be pretty hardy.
